Today In History

Memory: Babies have good memories. They can remember something they learned weeks prior. For example, babies were taught to move a mobile by kicking their foot. Weeks later when placed in the same situation, these infants remembered how to get the mobile to move. Also, your baby’s sense of smell, taste and touch are fully developed at birth.

Birth to 2. Your infant is learning from the moment she enters the world. For example, studies done with newborn infants have found that they can recognize stories that were read to them while they were in the womb. Although newborns don’t appear to be doing much other than eating and sleeping, they are amazingly intelligent.

Aiman was born on 29 January 2008, Pusat Perubatan University Malaya.

Aiman, One Month Later

2 to 7 months. Imagination drives your child during this stage. Make-believe play helps build attention span, reasoning and creativity. By playing house with your child or simply encouraging her to play dress up, you will be stimulating her cognitive growth.
But don’t expect her to be thinking like an adult yet. No matter how much you stimulate her thinking, she will still think like a kid.

Because of Love

Falling in love can play havoc with our hormones and brain, ... be different in men and women, because it's more important to survive at this stage. Part of the philosophical task in understanding personal love is to distinguish the various kinds of personal love. For example, the way in which I love my wife is seemingly very different from the way I love my mother, my child, and my friend.

Can love be justified? If so, how? What is the value of personal love?

Family Day

Baby Cute

Wow very cute.......When i was first pregnant, i like to look baby cute picture...insyallah you will get baby cute in the future. One important things....your baby health is good.

Bottle vs Breast

Ika_suzuka: Breastfeed or formula feed? It's normal to feel a bit overwhelmed by such an important decision. Ultimately, you have to make the right decision for your family. If anyone comes on too strong in favor of breastfeeding, try to keep an open mind...
Ika_suzuka: I choose to give my baby (Aiman Hakim), breastfeeding...sometimes I also give him formula feed. I chose nan1 for Aiman.. it's because sometimes i feel not enough milk to feed my baby. I know, breastfeeding is really good for my baby. For your information, I'm working. I feel very happy because my colleague also breastfeeding. She very powerful motivator...although she said breastfeed not enough.
Ika_suzuka: Can you help me and my friend....how to make enough to feed my baby????..

News....

YOUR report "Toxins in mother's milk" (NST, May 11) was badly timed and in bad taste. Bad timing because it is old news rehashed to appear on Mother's Day. And in bad taste because it undermines the confidence of millions of women who have lovingly nursed their babies with this "Cinderella milk".

Medical experts have known for decades that trace amounts of chemicals, including dioxins, can be transferred from a mother to a nursing infant. However, the concentrations transferred through breastfeeding are well below the levels that might cause adverse health effects.
Some studies have demonstrated subtle effects in children of mothers exposed to toxins, namely neuro-developmental delays and neuro-behavioural changes. But the effects are, in all but one study, attributed to exposure of the unborn child through the placenta rather than through breast milk. Several studies that looked at the effects of prenatal PCB exposure on cognitive performance, found that breast-fed children out-performed formula-fed children.
Despite the high PCB and dioxin levels transferred via breast milk, breastfeeding seemed to have a beneficial effect on the neuro-developmental status compared with formula feeding. It is postulated that the myriad of hormones and biological factors found in breast milk may have a protective effect on normal neurological development and mitigate the deleterious effects of prenatal exposure.

The point that needs to be driven home is not whether women should now reconsider their options of breastfeeding or bottle-feeding. That breastfeeding is superior and preferable is clear and unequivocal. Man's environmental sins must not now deprive our very young of the benefits of mother's milk. Our back-to-basics attitude towards medicine would suggest that the most effective way of addressing this problem is to limit environmental pollution to prevent these chemical pollutants from entering mother's milk in the first place. The banning and phasing out of various chemical toxicants has resulted in reduced emissions of pollutants in the environment.
According to a 1998 report by the World Health Organisation (WHO), concentrations of dioxin in breast milk are down by at least 50 per cent within the past 10 years in almost every region for which suitable data exists and are continuing to decline.
In 1990, the Innocenti Declaration on the Protection, Promotion and Support of Breastfeeding "called on all governments to act and create an environment enabling all women to practise exclusive breastfeeding from birth to 4-6 months and to continue breastfeeding with adequate complementary foods up to 2 years".
This international declaration, supported at the highest level of governments, empowers women to give their babies the healthy start they deserve, to survive and thrive in a world that is both mother- and baby-friendly. And since more and more babies start their lives in hospital, the global baby-friendly hospital initiative was mooted, where each of the "10 steps to successful breastfeeding" developed by Unicef and WHO were applied. The Health Ministry has been exemplary in its pursuit of the above accreditation. All public hospitals and a few private and university hospitals have been recognised as baby-friendly hospitals.

Wedding Day

A wedding is a ceremony that celebrates the beginning of a marriage or civil union. Wedding traditions and customs vary greatly between cultures, ethnic groups, religions, countries, and social classes. In some countries, cultures and religions, the actual act of marriage begins during the wedding ceremony. In others, the legal act of marriage occurs at the time of signing a marriage license or other legal document, and the wedding is then an opportunity to perform a traditional ceremony and celebrate with friends and family. A woman being married is called a bride, a man called a bridegroom, and after the ceremony they become a wife or a husband, respectively.

Malay Wedding

Malay Wedding begins with the akad nikah ceremony. The groom signs the marriage contract and provide the bride with a mas kahwin. The formal contract of marriage or also commonly known as the marriage solemnization or wedding vows.

The ceremony of Berinai involves the staining of the couple’s hands with henna. Lesser or greater berinai ceremonies are held three times as follows:
a. Berinai Curi takes place three nights before the actual wedding ceremony (akad nikah) with the participation of close relatives and friends only.
b. Berinai Kecil. Takes place two nights before the wedding ceremony with the participation of family members, neighbours and close friends.
c. Berinai Besar is usually held after the completion of the religious ceremony (Akad Nikah).

The Kenduri is the wedding feast which follows the Bersanding Ceremony. Decorations are put outside the house and guest gather and have lunch and socialising. The kompang is arguably the most popular Malay traditional instrument, for it is widely used for all sorts of social occasions, for example wedding ceremonies.

Songs for Children

SONGS

Ø Music is an important part of our "environment". The effects of music on the body, other scientists have studied its impact on physical and mental functions for many years.

Ø Most notably, music can measurably reduce stress and pain levels. For example, research supported by the
National Institute of Nursing Research recently found that listening to music reduced patients' pain levels following major abdominal surgery.

Baa, Baa, Black Sheep

Baa, baa, black sheep,
Have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir,
Three bags full.
One for the master,
One for the dame,
And one for the little boy
Who lives down the lane.
Baa, baa, black sheep,
Have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir,
Three bags full.
One to mend the jerseys
one to mend the socksand
one to mend the holes in
the little girls' frocks.
Baa, baa, black sheep,
Have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir,
Three bags full.

Falling in Love

Love???
  • Love represents a range of human emotions and experiences related to the senses of affection and sexual attraction. The word love can refer to a variety of different feelings, states, and attitudes, ranging from generic pleasure to intense interpersonal attraction. This diversity of meanings, combined with the complexity of the feelings involved, makes love unusually difficult to consistently define, even compared to other emotional states.

  • As an abstract concept love usually refers to a strong, ineffable feeling towards for another person. Even this limited conception of love, however, encompasses a wealth of different feelings, from the passionate desire and intimacy of romantic love to the nonsexual.

BECAUSE YOU LOVED ME

BY CELINE DION

For all those times you stood by me

For all the truth that you made me see

For all the joy you brought to my life

For all the wrong that you made right

For every dream you made come true

For all the love i found in you

I'll be forever thankful baby

You're the one who held me up

Never let me fall

You're the one who saw me through through it all

You were my strength when i was weak

You were my voice when i couldn't speak

You were my eyes when i couldn't see

You saw the best there was in me

Lifted me up when i couldn't reach

You gave me faith 'coz you believed

I'm everything i am

Because you loved me

You gave me wings and made me fly

You touched my hand i could touch the sky

I lost my faith, you gave it back to me

You said no star was out of reach

You stood by me and i stood tall

I had your love i had it all

I'm grateful for each day you gave me

Maybe i don't know that much

But i know this much is true

I was blessed because i was loved by you

You were my strength when i was weak

You were my voice when i couldn't speak

You were my eyes when i couldn't see

You saw the best there was in me

Lifted me up when i couldn't reach

You gave me faith 'coz you believed

I'm everything i am

Because you loved me

You were always there for me

The tender wind that carried me

A light in the dark shining your love into my life

You've been my inspiration

Through the lies you were the truth

My world is a better place because of you

You were my strength when i was weak

You were my voice when i couldn't speak

You were my eyes when i couldn't see

You saw the best there was in me

Lifted me up when i couldn't reach

You gave me faith 'coz you believed

I'm everything i am

Because you loved me

You were my strength when i was weak

You were my voice when i couldn't speak

You were my eyes when i couldn't see

You saw the best there was in me

Lifted me up when i couldn't reach

You gave me faith 'coz you believed

I'm everything i am

Because you loved me

I'm everything i am

Because you loved me

Pasir putih tepi pantai
Ombak saling berkejaran
Kau lari aku mengejar
Di antara deru rindu... kita berdua
Basah-basahnya rambutmu
Sebasah asmara kita
Siapa dulu yang empunya
Kalau bukan ku seorang...
Kekasih hati
Ku... ku... ku... punya cinta
Ku... ku... ku... punya rindu
Abadaikan cinta kita
Ku... ku... ku... punya cinta
Ku... ku... ku... punya rindu
Kita bina selamanya
Asyik... asyik... asyik
Asyik... asyiknya bercinta
Seakan dunia milik kita berdua
Satukan rasa
Asyik... asyik... asyik
Asyik... asyiknya bercinta
Saling melepas rindu didada, antara kita
Asyik... asyik... asyik
Manis-manisnya senyummu
Semanis asmara kita
Ikan laut pun menari
Nyiur dipantai bernyanyi
Sungguh asyiknya

Preparation for wedding

Engagement for Love

Sometimes, the things we learn about ourselves while planning a wedding can be surprising. We have already surprised by my change of feelings on engagement rings.

A Few Things to Selecting a Ring
  • Settings are usually made out of platinum (even on a gold ring) because of platinum's strength and durability.

  • To make regarding the band is the size. the most common choices for engagement rings are platinum and gold.

  • Gold has been popular in jewelry-making since the beginning of time, but because pure gold bends easily,it is usually alloyed with nickel, copper, and/or zinc.

  • Platinum is an extremely "hard" metal, its popularity in jewelry-making is not as long-lived as that of gold. Platinum is also more rare than gold; in fact it costs roughly four times as much as gold.
